I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list. – Susan Sontag

Hello and welcome to my new travel blog, Latitude Unknown! My name is Tamara and I’m so happy you’re able to join me in my journey to see the world!

For ages I’ve been talking about starting a travel blog, but I constantly made excuses for why I couldn’t or shouldn’t. These are just a few of the excuses I had over the years:

  • There are already tons of travel blogs out there. Why would anyone read mine?
  • Most travel bloggers travel all the time, and I only travel 3-4 weeks out of the year.
  • I”m an engineer by trade, not a writer.
  • As a full-time worker, I don’t have time to work on a blog.

It was only recently when I was talking with a friend, Olivia of Souris Rose, did I realize I had to stop with the excuses. When I sat down and really thought about it, I realized the excuses were just masking the fact that I was scared – 1) scared of sharing so much of myself (my thoughts, feelings, etc.) and 2) scared of being a failure (I tend to avoid things if I think I won’t be good at it. Surely I’m not the only one. Right?)

Riiight

Once I admitted I was scared, and accepted that it was natural, everything seemed to move smoothly from there. Now I have my very own blog! Before you ask, I am FULLY aware that Latitude Unknown may not be a smashing success, but I’m not going to let that stop me! Besides, I know I’ll at least have one faithful reader, my mom/travel buddy, and that’s good enough for me 🙂

Soo… now that Latitude Unknown is here, what can you expect? Well, I’m a self-described “cool nerd”, so I want to do my best to share as much information as I can about travelling in a fun and exciting manner, whether it’s from articles, pictures, or from my first-hand experiences. Also, to keep latitudes from staying unknown, you’ll learn a little geography in the process 🙂

Home sweet home!
